In partnership with the Nerve Centre, Bruiser are facilitating an online workshop designed to guide teachers through drama activities to explore mental health issues. This workshop is open to anyone who works in a school environment or with young people in Northern Ireland.
In this hour-long session we’ll be covering how to address mental health creatively with young people. From creating a safe space, right through to practical exercises that will cultivate confidence around this taboo subject.
Led by Peter Heenan from Bruiser Theatre Company, you’ll leave with workshop activities and the confidence to begin using Drama as a tool to affect real change. The workshop will also look at the award winning short film Black Sheep and the issues it addresses.
Alongside practical drama exercises, we’ll also be identifying some useful coping mechanisms and signposting local support services you can pass onto your pupils. We aim to empower your students to openly explore and discuss mental health and wellbeing.
In addition to the one-hour session over Zoom, you’ll receive lecture notes, a workshop plan to practically explore the ideas discussed, and ideas for further development.
